Dr. Ross Tucker - Data Scientist

Data Tsar

Ross joined the APS team as a consultant in January of 2018 and brings to the table an unparalleled level of data geekery. Ross’ ‘real job’ is the lead science and research consultant for World Rugby, where he advises the organisation on all strategy decisions around player welfare and health, performance analysis and audits, and policy making.

Ross holds a PhD in Exercise Physiology, with an emphasis on fatigue, the brain, and the limits to performance. This has led to his current research interests in the areas of high-performance culture, talent ID and management, and workplace wellbeing, and it’s in these areas where APS clients benefit from Ross’ wealth of experience and research know-how.

Based in Cape Town, Ross was named to the Mail and Guardian list of Top 200 Influential Young South Africans, and by the Minister of Sport as one of the 100 Influential people in South African Sport.

When he isn’t buried in a spreadsheet, Ross often provides commentary on human performance of professional sport. Henjoys running, cycling, and the occasional social game of very bad football.
