Corporate Diversity Day
(Businesses, NGO and philanthropies only)
This diversity day is a way of bringing the benefits of a programme to facilitate dialogue and open lines of communication with regards to diversity and inclusion to many different strands of any medium to large sized organisation. John is able to set a tone for an organisation that is serious about taking advantage of the tangible performance advantage of a high-functioning, diverse group of people, he speaks about multiple identities and the impact of bias and prejudice on the majority as well as the minorities. His approach breaks down the old, crass ideas of a hierarchy of oppression where people must rank themselves according to burdensome labels and see themselves as somehow better or worse, worthy or not of respect and success, dependant on their faith, colour, gender, weight, age, sexual orientation or any other single aspect of themselves.
The day is delivered in its entirety by John and includes a presentation open to everyone at a time of the day that allows for the greatest attendance. During the day a pre-work breakfast, lunch and after-work dinner are used for short presentations and a directed question and answer sessions that can be open to specific staff or executive tiers or affinity groups. It is also possible to arrange a book signing, or simply to have books signed to make available to staff. Just having John in the building can facilitate a discussion on issues in the workplace that progresses to positive action.
Above and beyond a worthwhile morning or afternoon presentation, this ‘Diversity Day’ has much greater penetration and impact throughout an organisation.
